The 3rd most cropped plant following corn and wheat, paddy is a herbaceous, one-year plant variety which completes its cultivation submerged in water. Rice, which is significant for more than half of the world population’s nutrition, is obtained by processing the paddy product after threshing. The peeled, unpolished grain of the paddy is called cargo, and the processed, polished husk is called rice. Ninety percent of rice is starch, which is a potent source of carbohydrates. It is poor in terms of protein content.
