Like other grain meals, sunflower meal is a by-product of oil industry. It is a feed raw material that is a source of protein, cellulose and energy obtained by grinding the remaining part of sunflower seeds after oil is obtained. It is divided into two groups according to the amount of shell material it contains, and its nutritional values vary. While the oil and cellulose ratio is higher, and the protein ratio is lower in meals with high shell content; low-shelled meals have a high protein content and a low fat and cellulose ratio.
